BASF’s McIntosh site recognized for safety record

MCINTOSH, AL, June 4, 2014 – BASF’s McIntosh, Alabama, site was recognized for its 2013 safety record by both the Alabama Department of Labor and Manufacture Alabama, the state’s manufacturing trade association.

BASF received Manufacture Alabama’s “Safety Award” for operating a competitive number of hours with no accidents and Governor Robert Bentley’s “No Lost-Time Award” for recording 630,080 hours with no lost-time accidents, which includes any accident that requires more than a day of recovery.

The awards were presented at Manufacture Alabama’s Safety/Human Resources/Health Conference, an annual event that provides instruction and demonstrations to manufacturers to help them improve safety programs.

“No element of the manufacturing process is more important than worker safety, and this Manufacture Alabama safety conference and awards program is in line with our association’s commitment to help our member companies achieve competitive excellence in all areas,” said George Clark, Manufacture Alabama’s president. “We’re proud of the outstanding record of Alabama’s manufacturing community in providing employees with a safe and healthy working environment, and we congratulate BASF on its safety achievements.”

BASF is one of 27 companies to receive an award for operating the most divisional hours with the fewest accidents, and one of 32 to receive a certificate for no lost-time accidents.
