BASF named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2015

Chemistry company is recognized for commitment to an inclusive and innovative workplace

MISSISSAUGA, ON, November 4, 2014 – Today BASF was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2015. Recognized employers are considered leaders in offering exceptional places to work.

Mediacorp Canada Inc., the country’s largest publisher of employment periodicals , cited BASF Canada for its parental benefits, employee development and commitment to fostering an inclusive and innovative workplace. The company recently rolled-out a diversity and inclusion roadmap and introduced a diversity and inclusion council.

“We are both honoured and proud to be named one of Canada’s Top Employers for 2015,” said Carles Navarro, President of BASF Canada. "This recognition is a testament to the hard work, commitment and innovative spirit that our team demonstrates on a daily basis. It is also a very good indication that BASF Canada has made significant progress in our journey to becoming a leading employer, offering an inspiring workplace with innovative and forward-thinking programs.”

BASF Canada was also recognized for developing the future generation through scholarships and a global exchange program for children of employees, as well as science education initiatives including Kids’ Lab . Since 2013, the company has brought Kids’ Lab, a series of hands-on chemistry workshops developed by BASF for children between the ages of 6-12, to 1,500 students in communities across Canada.

Employers are evaluated by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers using eight criteria: physical workplace; work and social atmosphere; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement. Selection was based on information from a national Top Employer application submitted by BASF Canada, together with independent research by Mediacorp. In 2013, the company was named one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers for 2014.

BASF Canada will be recognized at the Top Employer Summit in Vancouver on Monday, Nov. 17, where Navarro will deliver a keynote address.
