BASF recognized with Sustainability Leadership and Supplier Performance awards from Johnson Controls
WYANDOTTE, MI, November 17, 2014 – BASF , the world’s largest chemical company, was recently awarded with a trio of accolades from global multi-industrial company Johnson Controls.
After receiving both a Silver 2014 North American Supplier Performance Award and a Sustainability Leadership Award from Johnson Controls’ Automotive Seating Division last month, BASF has now received Johnson Controls’ Corporate Global Sustainability Award for its overall sustainability excellence.
“It’s an honor to be recognized for our sustainability efforts and supplier performance by a company that sets such a high standard for these areas,” said Christoph Gahn, Vice President, Urethane Chemicals North America, BASF. “At BASF, we strive to deliver reliable, top-quality products that are always on-specification.”
BASF was selected as the recipient of the Corporate Global Sustainability Award based on the following criteria:
- Embraces sustainability as the purpose of its company;
- Conducts business in a safe, sustainable manner, consistent with all laws and regulations, and is focused on reducing the carbon footprint of its activities;
- Completed Johnson Controls’ Sustainability Rating questionnaire, which measures a company’s environmental impact, and achieved 80 out of 85; and
- Has participated in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).
In addition, the Silver 2014 North American Supplier Performance Award that BASF received was based on its top performance in the areas of quality, logistics, development, technology and service to Johnson Controls’ Automotive Seating business, to which BASF supplies polyurethane systems and urethane chemicals.
