BASF and employees donate $335,000 to Capital Area United Way

GEISMAR, LA, May 28, 2019 – At a recent jambalaya cook-off event, BASF presented Capital Area United Way a $335,000 check. The donation represents the total amount pledged during the 2018-2019 United Way campaign by BASF and employees from the Geismar and North Geismar sites. The 2019 total is a $35,000 increase from the previous year.

“Our continued work with United Way has given BASF and our employees the opportunity to provide support – both financial and volunteer resources – to help strengthen our local community,” said Jolen Stein, BASF Communications Manager and Capital Area United Way Board of Directors member. “Through the annual United Way campaign, we  show our community how much we care.”

In addition to the traditional employee-giving campaign, BASF supports United Way through numerous fundraisers and event sponsorships that assist military veterans and promote leadership initiatives tailored to women. BASF also provides funding to United Way’s Ascension Parish Vision Council, a group of representatives from local companies, nonprofit organizations and community leaders who help to identify any gaps in services so that United Way can provide solutions specific to Ascension Parish residents.

“As we move into our 95th year, partnerships with companies such as BASF continue to make a long-lasting impact, not only in Ascension Parish, but throughout the 10-parish area,” said George Bell, President and CEO of Capital Area United Way. “We are grateful for BASF’s volunteer efforts and financial generosity that will continue to allow individuals to recognize and achieve their fullest potential.”
