BASF celebrates 1 million safe work hours with Governor’s Award of Excellence
SPARTA, TN, March 16, 2022 – BASF's Sparta facility was awarded the Governor's Award of Excellence for workplace safety. The recognition honors employers and employees who achieve the required number of hours worked without experiencing a workplace injury that causes an employee to miss a workday. The Tennessee facility is recognized for 4 years without a safety incident and 1 million safe work hours.
The Sparta facility hosted a ceremony where Deputy Commissioner Dewayne Scott, Department of Labor & Workforce Development, presented the award to the site to commemorate its safety milestones.
“BASF is committed to maintaining workplace safety and continuing the mission of safety education,” said Andy Schmitt, Site Director at BASF’s site in Sparta. “A safe and healthy workplace protects workers, increases productivity, boosts employee morale and creates a positive work environment. I am proud of our BASF team and am honored to receive this award on behalf of our Sparta employees.”
Studies show companies with strong safety culture and a formalized strategy see greater efficiency, productivity, and profitability gains. Keeping our people and plants safe is our priority and something BASF never compromises on.
