BASF awards more than $20,000 in STEM grants to Washington County schools
MCINTOSH, AL, January 24, 2023 – To support learning for students in grades K-12, BASF has recently awarded $21,000 in grants to seven science education programs in Washington County schools to advance science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subjects.
"Through these grants, BASF commits to investing in the next generation of innovators, chemists, and engineers," said Marcus Pezent, Site Director and Operations Americas Leader. "By supporting these community STEM initiatives, we hope to encourage and inspire local students to become the future leaders of our industry."
Marking seven years of donating STEM grants to aid in local education, BASF invited the schools in Washington County to submit proposals outlining their specific science education needs.
“The Washington County Board of Education is very appreciative and grateful for the STEM grants BASF has awarded to our schools, teachers and students. The generosity of BASF allows our schools to provide hands-on activities and experiences that our students enjoy and learn from,” said Lisa Connell, Washington County Superintendent. “STEM activities teach critical thinking skills and encourage teamwork, which are two very important skills needed in all aspects of life. We are very appreciative to BASF for everything they do to support our schools, teachers and students. This support is invaluable to us in our mission to provide our students with the best education they can receive.”
