Karime joined BASF Venture Capital as investment manager in 2021. Located in Sao Paulo, Brazil, she coordinates our investments, portfolio management, and institutional representation in South America.
She started her career with innovation consulting and VC investments in Brazil. Subsequently, she was responsible for structuring the corporate venture arm of TOTVS, a leader technology company in Brazil, and played a role in the M&A department supporting its inorganic growth strategy, post-merger acquisition, corporate innovation and internationalization. She also worked in the Corporate Development and M&A department of Cielo, a leader payment processor, and was in charge of structuring venture debt transactions for startups in SP Ventures.
She studied Marine Engineering at Sao Paulo’s University in Brazil, completed a master’s degree in sustainable development at ParisTech in France, she studied innovation, entrepreneurship and venture capital in an academic partnership of GVcepe (FGV Private Equity Study Centre) with Berkeley, and also holds an advanced board member certification at FGV-EAESP.
In her free time, she’s definitely the kind of person you’ll find outdoors, practicing sports such as surfing, sailing, and hiking. She also loves reading and cooking, and started a new personal challenge, classical guitar.
