MetaMap^®Tox Metabolome Database

MetaMap^®Tox is a database of metabolome profiles developed over more than 22 years by BASF SE and BASF Metabolome Solutions GmbH. It is designed to support toxicity prediction for new compounds and to help investigate their modes of action.

The database supports metabolomics data analysis in several ways:

pattern ranking
treatment correlation analysis
statistical comparison of significantly altered metabolites
support biological interpretation

New compounds can be compared with more than 1,100 treatments (chemicals, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals…) covering different modes of action and with over 110 metabolite patterns linked to specific target organ toxicities.

As the world’s largest database of metabolite profiling data, MetaMap^®Tox database may also support efforts to refine and reduce animal testing by offering a new standard for read-across data in toxicological assessments.

Animal Health an Nutrition

Protein MS analytics

BASF Metabolome Solutions GmbH uses high resolution LC-MS/MS analytics to identify and quantify proteins and peptides of interest, where needed under GLP compliance. Our technology only requires knowledge of the protein or peptide sequence and can also resolve post translational modifications. With this approach, cumbersome antibody generation or ELISA development become obsolete. We can perform protein and peptide analysis in any biological sample as well as in food items or consumer products (e.g. cosmetics, personal care, home care).

Plant Services

In our growth chamber facility, we grow, transform, and screen the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana under climate-controlled conditions. The facilities are operated under strict stewardship rules and in compliance with the German Gentechnikverordnung. ADME and Metabolite Identification

Special Exposomics PFAS Identification

We offer comprehensive PFAS analysis as part of our advanced exposomics platform. Using state-of-the-art untargeted approaches, we are able to identify known and previously unrecognized PFAS compounds in human body fluids, enabling the detection of unexpected exposures. This allows for a more complete understanding of individual and population-level PFAS burdens.
