Breitnau House, the BASF Active Hotel, is located 1000 meters up in the heart of the southern Black Forest. Surrounded by magnificent landscapes and with views of the Feldberg mountain, the high valley, with its excellent air and mild stimulating climate, is perfect for both active and relaxing holidays. Whether you prefer long hikes, cycling tours or simply relaxation - the typical Black Forest landscape with its extensive spruce forests and bucolic meadows is ideal.

A generously proportioned indoor pool fed from our own spring and a sauna with views of the Feldberg, an infrared grotto, a sports hall, two fully automated bowling alleys, a sun terrace, a barefoot path, a bowling green, a Kneipp facility, a large sunbathing lawn, friendly social areas, and a traditional Black Forest style bar provide everything you need for a pleasant stay with us. Our hotel has over 50 double rooms (bed size 180x200), 26 single rooms (bed size 90x200) and one holiday apartment. All rooms are equipped with shower, WC, TV/radio and telephone. Most of the rooms on the south side of the building have a balcony. Three modern conference rooms provide spaces for seminars and events.

The diverse offerings from our kitchen serve the culinary needs of our guests. Begin the day with a refreshing or traditional breakfast, which you can put together yourself from our plentiful breakfast buffet. In the evening a buffet experience awaits you. Our kitchen team values fresh, seasonal ingredients, regional specialties, light, healthy food and inventive surprises.
Experience Nature
Whether for excursions in the summer, or ski trips in the winter, the High Black Forest is worth a visit at any time of year. The city of Freiburg, the Kandel and Feldberg mountains, Titisee lake and the resort village of Hinterzarten are on its doorstep. Trips to neighboring Alsace and Switzerland complement the varied range of offerings. During the winter, you can fasten on your skis right at the hotel to begin the 8 km long cross-country ski trail. For Alpine skiers, the numerous lifts to the Black Forest winter sports area are within easy reach.

Breitnau is located approx. 30 km away from Freiburg/Breisgau. Schaffhausen (80 km) and Lake Constance (100 km) are also nearby.
If you are arriving by car
A5: Drive to Breitnau by taking the A5 towards Karlsruhe/Basel. Exit at Freiburg Mitte, then continue on the B31 towards Titisee-Neustadt. At Hinterzarten, turn onto the B500 towards Triberg, Breitnau, Furtwangen.
A81: Take the A81 towards Singen to the Freiburg exit. Then continue on the B31 towards Freiburg to the Hinterzarten exit. Here, take the B500 towards Breitnau.
If you are traveling by train
Take the ICE to Freiburg. A regional train departs from there to Hinterzarten every half hour (30 min.). We would be happy to send our hotel bus to pick you up at the Hinterzarten train station on request.
