Lawrence Loe is responsible for the external licensing of BASF’s CO₂ capture technologies. He leads a team that licenses BASF’s intellectual property and process technologies to third-party customers around the world. His focus is to help customers understand and apply these technologies and turn them into industrial solutions that can operate reliably.

In his daily work, Lawrence works closely with customers, explaining technical concepts and supporting plant design. Through technology licensing and technical services, BASF is able to commercialize its know-how and experience beyond the direct sale of chemical products.

Across the energy and agriculture sectors, BASF’s CO₂ capture technologies are widely used in industrial plants worldwide, such as natural gas purification in liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities, and gas treatment in ammonia and urea production. These applications support energy supply and agricultural production, and in certain cases, contribute to emissions‑reduction efforts.

Rohini’s journey at BASF reflects her passion for people and meaningful impact. After spending many years in the lab, she stepped into a role that gave her a broader perspective of how ideas and collaboration can drive real change. Today, she works closely with academic partners and researchers, bringing fresh thinking and bold ideas into BASF. For Rohini, moving beyond the lab helped her see how powerful curiosity and collaboration can be.

Her connection to BASF runs deeper because of the support she experienced at a very personal stage of life. When she joined the company, she shared openly that she was pregnant and immediately felt the care and understanding from her manager and team. From ensuring safe working conditions to standing by her through pre‑term labor, maternity leave, and her return to work, she never felt alone.

As a working mother, Rohini experienced the same trust and understanding that has allowed her to grow professionally while balancing life at home. For her, BASF is a place where people are genuinely cared for, life stages are respected, and you don’t have to choose between building a career and being yourself.

Chiara consciously chose to realign her career path. After completing her first apprenticeship in a laboratory environment, she decided to move into engineering – a field where she can work closer to the facilities and actively shape processes. Her apprenticeship as an industrial mechanic at BASF was the first step; today, she works as a fully trained plant mechatronics technician directly in production.

This is exactly where Chiara comes in: where automation lays the foundation, she adds her technical expertise, her understanding of complex systems, and her own drive to keep things running reliably – and to keep improving them. At the same time, she is passionate about encouraging other young women to pursue technical careers, because the opportunities at BASF are diverse and support is available at every level.
