Acute Medical Care

BASF site clinics

At the Ludwigshafen site, the site clinic staff and a company doctor are on duty around the clock – and can respond to acute medical inquiries of BASF employees worldwide by a hotline. There is also the option of telemedicine consultation.

BASF's site clinics are also the first point of contact for all BASF employees, contracted employees and guests at the Ludwigshafen site if they need medical attention.

The medical services range from the treatment of simple ailments such as the common cold to stabilizing acute, life-threatening conditions and the initial and follow-up treatment of occupational or private injuries.

Acute Medical Care

Medical care at the Ludwigshafen site

Our emergency rescue services are on standby 24/7, ready for acute emergencies and to deliver ambulance transport. In addition, BASF employees and contractors at the Ludwigshafen site can seek medical attention at the site clinic anytime.

Chemical-specific expertise

BASF rescue services and site clinics demonstrate a high level of chemical-specific expertise and many years of clinical experience in the initial and follow-up treatment of chemical-related occupational accidents.

Information on effective treatment after product contact and in cases of intoxication is provided by the Human Toxicology department of Corporate Health Management.

An in-house laboratory for human biomonitoring enables us to determine the concentrations of hazardous substances and their metabolites in the human body using high-performance analytical methods. The results are analyzed using expert knowledge in occupational medicine and toxicology.

In addition to the usual equipment (EN, European standard), the BASF rescue service has extensive medical and safety equipment (e.g. antidotes, decontamination material, special protective clothing, breathing apparatus).

Special situations and neighborhood assistance

In the event of special operating conditions (e.g. difficult accessibility of the emergency site in a container or at great heights, there is close cooperation with the plant fire department). The rescue service is also dispatched to every major firefighting operation as a preventive measure. Its crew initiates the treatment of injured persons and provides medical care for the firefighters.

As part of its neighborly assistance, the BASF rescue service is also deployed outside the site at the request of the Ludwigshafen rescue control center.
