BASF helps educate the next generation of chemical engineers
WYANDOTTE, MI, April 17, 2019 – For the second consecutive year, BASF will host the American Institute of Chemical Engineers’ (AIChE) Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) Faculty Workshop. The workshop is scheduled for July 22-25, 2019 at BASF’s Wyandotte site.
Dedicated to safe chemical industry practices, BASF hosts the workshop to provide chemical engineering faculty first-hand insight on proper industrial practices and highlight the importance to the design and operation of a chemical plant. AIChE’s CCPS faculty facilitates the workshop to educate undergraduate and graduate students and prepare them for careers in industry.
During the four-day long workshop, participants will gain expertise in process safety matters, participate in industry-related safety case studies, and tour the BASF Wyandotte site to learn more about implemented process safety solutions. .
“Safety is our core value at BASF,” said Greg Pflum, Vice President and General Manager of BASF’s Midwest Hub. “In collaboration with AIChE, we help provide a solid foundation of process safety knowledge for future chemical engineers.”
In 2018, BASF partnered with AIChE to help underwrite the Undergraduate Process Safety Learning Initiative which includes partnerships with industry, academia, and professional associations that engage different groups in the engineering workforce.
Interested faculty can learn more and register for the workshop on the AIChE website.
