BASF contributes more than $40,000 to United Way of Southwest Alabama

MCINTOSH, AL, March 3, 2021 – BASF contributed more than $40,000 to United Way of Southwest Alabama (UWSWA). The funds will benefit more than 50 United Way partner agencies across Choctaw, Clarke, Mobile and Washington counties.

“Our work with United Way has given BASF and our employees the opportunity to provide support to help strengthen our community,” said Marcus Pezent, Site Director of BASF in McIntosh, Alabama. “Our contribution is a commitment to invest in the critical needs facing our surrounding counties, including continued hurricane recovery efforts.”

BASF’s employee-led United Way campaign kicked off in early 2020 (prior to COVID-19) with a chili cook-off. Later in the year, team members hosted a COVID-19 compliant tailgate celebration, door-prize giveaway and employee pledge drive. The team was pleasantly surprised when they were honored with the Washington County Campaign Award.

“2020 was a year like no other,” said Jill Chenoweth, President and CEO of UWSWA. “We are grateful to the employees and leadership at BASF for their continued support. We are especially thankful for the dollars which provided additional aid to families in Clarke, Mobile, and Washington counties who were impacted by Hurricane Zeta.”

United Way’s mission is to improve the quality of life in the community. The organization fights for the health, education, financial stability, and access to life’s basic essentials for every person in every community it serves.
