Business chemists at BASF

Be the mediator between two worlds.

As a business chemist you understand the disciplines of chemicals and business. You speak two "languages" at the same time and can handle both disciplines. In research and development your tasks will focus on research controlling, which requires marketing experience with a clear understanding of chemistry. The main areas of work are however outside research in commercial departments: e.g. in procurement, technical marketing or sales, product management, new business development or supply chain management. Contribute your wide-ranging expertise to the these areas.

Become part of our team!

If you have already completed your business chemistry degree you can join us directly in various business functions - e.g. in procurement, technical marketing or sales, product management, new business development or supply chain management. Apply to one of our job postings or send us your unsolicited application. You also have the opportunity to join one of our START IN trainee programs.

What we expect

You have completed your business chemistry studies ideally with a Master's degree and are looking for your first workplace challenge. You have ideally gained first working experience through business internships. You communicate confidently and authentically in German and English and like to work in interdisciplinary teams. In an interview you can convince us of your strengths, for example by demonstrating your pronounced team-skills and flexibility.

You can join us here!

In principle it is possible to join all commercial functions and departments as a business chemist - in procurement, technical marketing or sales, product management, new business development or supply chain management. The tasks are as varied as our products, industries and the customers we serve. From the first day on you will take on responsibilities. You will receive on-the-job training from the very start in a committed, competent team.

Which responsibilities can you expect?

You can expect challenging tasks with a high level of responsibility.

For example, if you start in raw material procurement you will contribute to ensure the raw material supply for our production processes. In product management you will be responsible for the performance of a defined product portfolio and take decisions on prices, customer prioritization and plant optimization. Or you will find new sales markets and applications for existing products in new business development.

Your opportunities for development!
