Irene joined BASF Venture Capital in February 2022 and is based in Toronto. She has a broad knowledge of circular economy, energy transition and decarbonization, and is passionate about AI and software solutions for the chemical sector.
Irene was previously Director of Business Development & Innovation, working with several business units on growth plans with customers, and also leading strategic partnerships. Joining BASF in 2013, Irene worked earlier in BASF Asia-Pacific and U.S. offices.
Prior to BASF, Irene held Director of GPU Product Management and Global Strategic Partnership roles with AMD and was a Global Energy & Materials consultant with McKinsey.
Irene earned her MS Engineering (Electrical and Computer Science) and MBA degrees from MIT (USA), and B. Eng. & Management degree from McMaster University (Canada).
Irene loves snowboarding, half-marathons, spy thrillers and her favorite major league sports teams. Her husband and two school-aged children keep her very busy and fulfilled.
