Dr. Mary Kurian
Member of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE
Mary Kurian was born in India in 1977.
She studied polymer engineering at the University of Pune and earned her PhD in materials science and engineering from the University of Delaware, USA, in 2004.
After joining Air Products and Chemicals, she held various leadership positions in technical, commercial and general management roles. Mary Kurian joined BASF in 2020, leading the Petrochemicals business in North America. In 2023, she took over the Care Chemicals division before being appointed to the BASF SE Executive Board in 2026.
Mary Kurian is responsible for the divisions Petrochemicals; Intermediates; Nutrition & Health; Care Chemicals.
