Personnel changes in Communications of BASF
- Dr. Andreas Meier to become head of Corporate Affairs Asia Pacific
- Christian Schubert takes over as head of BASF’s Berlin office
Ludwigshafen, Germany – July 30, 2015 – Effective August 1, 2015, Dr. Andreas Meier (46), currently Director Corporate Communications, BASF Corporation, Florham Park, New Jersey, will take over the position of Vice President, Corporate Affairs Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong. He will report to Sanjeev Gandhi, member of the Board of BASF SE responsible for the region Asia Pacific. Meier succeeds Christian Schubert (51), who will become head of BASF’s Berlin office as of November 1, 2015, following a three-month sabbatical. Schubert will report to Elisabeth Schick, Senior Vice President, Communications & Government Relations BASF Group. The current head of the Berlin office, Wolfgang Niedermark (50), has decided to leave the company effective September 30, 2015.
After studying political science, journalism and economics in Münster, Germany, Meier joined BASF as a communications trainee in 2000. He then worked in various functions in internal and external communications for BASF in Ludwigshafen and Vienna, Austria. He has been Director Corporate Communications at BASF Corporation since 2010.
Schubert studied as an industrial engineer and took a Master of Science in management in Berlin, Germany and Hoboken, New Jersey, before training as an attaché and assuming duties in the Economic Directorate-General of the German Foreign Office in Bonn. Schubert subsequently worked for DaimlerChrysler Services AG in Berlin, before joining BASF in Ludwigshafen as head of Corporate Communications in 2001. He became head of communications for BASF in Asia Pacific in 2008.
Niedermark studied economic geography in Münster, Germany. After various managerial positions at business associations, a Hamburg publishing house and the AHK in Korea, he joined BASF in 2006 as Director Asia Pacific Affairs. He has been head of the BASF’s Berlin office since 2008.
