We want to contribute to a better world with enhanced quality of life for everyone. That is why we have firmly anchored the three pillars of sustainability – the economy, environment and society – into our corporate purpose, our strategy, our targets and our operations. They are the core of what we do, a driver for growth and an element of our risk management.

But, since our production is CO2 intensive, we go one step further: We are reinventing the way we produce chemistry along the entire value chain. In this endeavour, we are guided by two fundamental principles: First – Our targets are ambitious. Second – Our commitments are realistic.

私たちは、すべての人の生活の質を向上させ、成長しうる未来を享受できる世界に貢献したいと考えています。そのために、お客様のために化学でいい関係をつくり、利用可能な資源を最大限活用しています。持続可能な将来に可能な限り貢献するために、事業活動が経済、環境、社会に与える全体的な影響を、「Value to Society （バリュー・トゥ・ソサエティ）」という手法で評価します。また、国連が実施する持続可能な開発目標（SDGs）を支持し、パリ気候変動協定にも尽力しています。
現代における最大の課題である気候変動の解決に向け、私たちは、2050年までにCO2排出量ネットゼロ（実質ゼロ）にすることを目標に掲げています。この目標を達成するべく、生産やエネルギー消費の効率化、再生可能エネルギーの利用拡大、化学品製造時にCO₂の発生を防ぐ新たなプロセスの開発および導入の促進に取り組んでいます。
バリューチェーン内のサステナビリティに寄与するアクセラレーターソリューションを用いて、私たちは、お客様のための価値を創造します。また、サーキュラー・エコノミー（循環型経済）プログラムの下、資源消費を伴わない成長を目指しています。循環型ソリューションにより、廃棄物削減や化石資源の節約、CO₂排出量削減へと繋がるのです。
私たちはサプライチェーンや当社の事業活動に伴う責任を担っています。サプライヤーと共に持続可能性パフォーマンスの評価や改善を行うと共に、独自の「サプライヤーCO₂マネジメントプログラム」を実施しています。事業においては、私たちは統合生産ネットワークであるフェアブントを活用し、資源を効率的に利用しています。また、責任ある行動に取り組み、排出物や廃棄物を削減することで環境保護に貢献しています。例えば、Alliance to End Plastic Waste （アライアンス・トゥ・エンド・プラスチック・ウェイスト、廃棄プラスチックを無くす国際アライアンス）に参加し、森林や海などで機能している生態系の保護を支援しています。水不足地域にある生産拠点やフェアブント拠点における、持続可能な水管理も行なっています。
私たちの事業活動や取引関係において人権を尊重することは、社会的責任の基盤となるものです。私たちは安全な作業環境を確保しています。また、多様性を受け入れ、包摂的な職場環境を構築し、すべての従業員同士が深い関係性を築くことを奨励しています。
