BASF Safety Scouts program returns for its second year, supporting farm safety for families

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC, February 20, 2024 — BASF Agricultural Solutions is continuing its commitment to farm safety with the return of the BASF Safety Scouts program. The initiative promotes safety as a top priority from a young age.

The BASF Safety Scouts program will provide 2,000 safety kits to farm families throughout the U.S. free of charge available throughout the season. Kits will also be available at the BASF booth at Commodity Classic, while supplies last.

“BASF is committed to supporting the next generation of farmers and promoting safety to farmers of all ages,” said Scott Kay, Vice President of U.S. Agricultural Solutions at BASF. “We are thrilled to continue the BASF Safety Scouts program for a second year and hope these kits inspire children to become passionate about farm safety year-round.”

The BASF Safety Scouts program offers two kits. The BASF Safety “Scout” kit is designed for children six years of age and younger, and the BASF Safety “Captain” kit encourages children seven years of age and older to take an active role in supporting safety on their farms. All kits include:

  • A letter to the child, welcoming them to the program as a BASF Safety Scout or Captain
  • A welcome letter for parent(s)
  • A BASF kid-sized safety vest, CSA Z96-15 compliant
  • A BASF Safety Scout/Captain member certificate
  • A BASF Safety Scout/Captain pledge, sticker, name bag for their safety vest, and activity sheets

Since its launch, the BASF Safety Scouts program has supported families to engage children in learning about the value and importance of farm safety, in an interactive and fun way. With an ever-present need for awareness around farm safety, the BASF Safety Scouts program is another way BASF is supporting farmers doing The Biggest Job on Earth.
