BASF Venture Capital GmbH

At BASF Venture Capital we create value by building bridges between BASF and the world of startups.

BASF Venture Capital GmbH

Welcome to BASF Venture Capital

We are the corporate venture capital company of the BASF Group. Since 2001, we have been investing worldwide in young, fast-growing companies and funds related to current and future businesses of BASF.

What we do

Our Mission: more than just financing

We support the growth of BASF’s businesses through strategic investments while fostering the development of the innovative companies in our portfolio. By initiating collaborations between BASF units and start-ups, we complement BASF’s global research network and create mutual value.

How We Create Value

Our work provides BASF’s business units with early insights into future technologies, markets, and business models. We identify breakthrough innovations and generate new business opportunities. At the same time, we support our portfolio companies with deep industry expertise, access to international markets, and connections to BASF’s global network.

Our Investment Approach

We invest and collaborate in fields that shape the future: CO2 reduction, the circular economy, new materials, biotechnology, as well as artificial intelligence and software solutions.

We typically invest after technological and market proof of concept has been established. Since our founding in 2001, we have covered the full spectrum of venture capital activities—from initial and follow-up investments to successful exits via M&A transactions and IPOs.
